Overview

By msecsuper Aug 22, 2009

The online registration system is designed to streamline entering the Mercer Science and Engineering Fair. The general process for working on a project for the fair goes like this:

  1. Create an account on this website and then create an application for the fair. This can be done any time prior to the schedule due date for the division the student is competing in. The division is based on the student's grade.
  2. Decide to do a science fair project
  3. Choose a topic
  4. Research the topic
  5. Decide on a project
  6. Make sure that the project is allowed (this differs depending upon the division/grade)
  7. Create a hypothesis for the project
  8. Create a detailed research plan
  9. * Fill in ISEF forms with project information
  10. * Get ISEF forms signed
  11. * Post project information in an online application (optional if precertification not required)
  12. ** Get project approved by MSEF. This is only required for projects that need precertification.
  13. Start experiment and record your data
  14. Finish project
  15. Write abstract. Print it out on the ISEF abstract form. It may be put on the project board or placed on the table at the fair.
  16. Compelete the online application. This must be done by posted due date.
  17. Senior division only: Mail the original completed ISEF forms to MSEF. Keep a COPY of all forms.
  18. Print out the check-in and check-out form (part of the online registration process). Elementary students will print out the Elementary division MSEF form.
  19. Project setup for the fair:
Elementary division: Bring the MSEF form and check-in form
Junior division: Bring ISEF forms and check-in form
Senior division: Bring the check-in form. The ISEF forms should have been mailed by the specified due date.

You need an account on this website before you can create an application using the online registration system. You can get an account at any time then start the application process.

Note:

  • Steps with an asterisk (*) are only required for Junior and Senior division projects.
Elementary division students DO NOT have to do these steps.
  • Projects that require precertification must post the application online (**)
  • An account is required to post one or more applications
