The award is given to an individual project that demonstrate the most challenging, original, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to high school students.
The winner of the Mu Alpha Theta Award must be in grades 9 through 12 and the winning project does not necessarily have to be entered in the mathematics category.
