Two 2004 Mercer Science and Engineering Fair Winners Are Semifinalist to the Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge

We would like to congratulate David Sharples of Chapin School and Zachary Papas from James Alexander Elementary School. Both are semifinalists for the Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge (DCYSC). Check out the DCYSC website for more information about the Young Scientist Challenge.

Teacher Training Session Presentations Online

The teacher training session held on Sept. 21st was a success. The presentations are now online. They are excellent resources to teachers and students especially those in the Junior and Senior Division. Teachers will be able to earn professional development hours for subsequent courses. We want to thank those teachers who attended so we could provide this service in the future.

Kickoff Meeting A Great Success

We had a great turnout. We will be posting additional material presented at the meeting on this site in the near future. A number of suggestions were made and there was a good deal of interest in a mentoring program. Five robot and microcomputer kits were presented as door prizes and we hope to see these in future science fair projects or in use as teaching aids.

Keep an eye on this site for the next meeting that will include training sessions for teachers and students. The tentative date is Tuesday, Sept. 21st. Details to follow. Make sure you are on our mailing list to be notified. Everyone that attended the meeting or sent an email note but were unable to attend are already on the list.

The forms page has the necessary paperwork for those looking to start their projects earlier. Remember to get all appropriate signatures on the forms before formally starting on your project.
